How to deal with space crunch and make your home look fabulous?

interior design tips

When you’re residing in a metropolitan city, and especially in Delhi National Capital Region, then there’s one problem that you have might have to face – yes, the space crunch. Being a Gurugram interior designer, we’re often asked about interior design tips on how to deal with space crunch in Delhi NCR homes. So,

MADS Creations is here with some amazing interior design tips to make your homes look bigger and spacious at the same time.

Mirrors

Well, using large mirrors is the best way to make any small space look larger. You might be aware of the changing room effect that describes how full-length mirrors and just one light are used in a small space which makes it look bigger. This effect can be applied in any small area of the home as well, but avoid using mirrors on all walls. Just utilise one large mirror on the main wall and you’re done.

Ceilings: Ceilings play very important role in making a room look smaller or bigger

Ceilings

Ceilings play very important role in making a room look smaller or bigger. The ceilings of areas with small spaces should be painted white and no excess work should be done in order to avoid clumsiness. Use an upward flow of lighting that means the lighting should focus the ceiling which provides an illusion of length. Also, use full-length curtains if the ceiling is low, this again creates an illusion of length.

Clean line furniture

Keep the furniture clean line. Modern contemporary furniture utilises clean lines that make any area look bigger. The more curves and floral motifs in the furniture in the furniture you’ll have the more it will take the space within. So, keep the furniture simple.

Pastel Colours

Use pastel colours in fabrics, handlooms and walls. The lighter the colour, the more depth it will create for space. On the other hand, darker shades tend to eat the space, so avoid using them in big quantity. Read also, our recent blog over pastel colours – interior design tips beat the heat with some pastel colours in your home

Organisation

You cannot go ahead in reducing the space crunch until you have all the things organised in a home with small space. Utilise smart organisation tips that we have discussed in our earlier blog like having raised platforms, cupboards and vanities, hanging swing chairs, organising baskets and stack-up furniture. This will help in creating more space and reducing the clutter in homes with smaller areas.
